Sims 3 Create-a-world BETA

Postby pinkfiend1 » Sun Dec 13 2009, 11:10 am UTC

Yes it's almost here! (this December apparently along with a new update) The thing simmers have been waiting for since the release. The Create-a world-tool BETA.
Create-a-world tool
This tool will be identical to the one actually used by the creators to create new worlds. Players can start from scratch to build terrain, or use Sunset Valley and Riverview as a base to build a world, or import things from photoshop and similar programmes. These worlds can then be uploaded and shared.
You will be able to completely design the terrain, from hills, and water, to roads, and lot placement and world decorations like lighthouses and water towers.

I absolutely cannot wait for this tool! I have about a dozen sketches of towns that I want to turn into a reality. Erm, virtual reality that is....

Murano did a big blog post about the Create-A-World tool with lots of details about how it will work:

Strange as it seems from someone who ahtes building, I actually want to create my town, make it just how I want. Maybe even build houses to fill it all from scratch.
Hold on that looks complicated though. I thought it might be nice and simple like with the sim cities games. Maybe it just looks more complicated than it is. *fingers crossed*

I honestly have no idea what to think... I REALLY want to create worlds for TS3! And, of course, fill them with my own designs. But I've heard from a few places now that it's going to be a very complicated tool...? :duh: .... and you just know it HAS to be complicated for everything to run smoothly. It's just one of those things.

I'm with Pink on this one: I hope it's easier than they say it is.

Oh, thanks for the link, Heather. I'm glad that you can switch between the game and the editor. I definitely can't wait for this. It does look complicated, but generally with these things I just have to have a chance to play with it. I sure hope it comes out soon.

The tool is now available.
You DO need to be fully patched up, although I don't think you need to have world adventures.
ad no they don't mention you need the patches until you come to use it.
If you click the link in the first post it has been updated with the download button and the expansive tutorial and walk through.
Create-a-world download It may take a while to dowload.
Tutorial
Walk Through

You get to choose where you place the spawnables like the collectables, and the fish, which includes choosing the exact type placed their and the WA additions.
I can just see lazy people like me, creating a hood just to put all the collectables, especially the rare ones right outside the doorstep of their future legcy house cos lets face collecting is so tedious.
And from what I can tell one of the main complicated bits will be connecting the hood with the WA destinations.
And it is nice and gives you little pointers when creating lots of how to improve performance.

I don't like it. All I want is a practical, small but functional island, and I can't for life of me create one.
Anyone want to create one for me, or know where I can find one? I thought I had found a suitbale one but it didn't have all the necessary work places in it or anything, and I have no idea where you find them to place them anyway.

The work places should be in the community lots, but if they aren't, you could always go to the other neighborhoods, and then copy the work places to the bin and use them on the terrain of your choice.

I'm pretty sure you place workplaces on community lots when you're building.... there's another option on the build-mode menu that has objects exclusive to community lots and that's where you find them. :)
